Jindabyne Information and Tourist Guide
Snowy Mountains Accommodation and Holidays

Jindabyne is the gateway to the Snowy Mountains. The Jindabyne township is built on the foreshores of a stunning freshwater lake and surrounded by the mountains that pose as a backdrop to a town unlike any other.
Jindabyne is one of the highest settlements of its size in Australia, at 918 metres above sea level, but it wasn’t always that way. Originally the small town was situated on land that is now underneath Lake Jindabyne, the township was transferred to its present location in the 1960s due to the damming of the Snowy River as part of the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme.
There is a wide variety of bars and restaurants, shops and services, Churches and a cinema, so when you’re not exploring the great outdoors you will still have plenty to do.
Jindabyne township and the Snowy Mountains area offer an abundance of holiday accommodation options including traditional hotels, family friendly alpine lodges, self-contained apartments, chalets and holiday flats. Click through for a description of each type and style of accommodation to help you choose which holiday stay is right for you. |

Some may think that Jindabyne is a long way away, but both the drive from Sydney and Melbourne are scenic and enjoyable, however, if you’re not comfortable taking the drive, why not fly to Canberra and hire a car to enjoy all the Snowy Mountains has to offer. |
