Fishing Lake Jindabyne:

Whether you’re into trout fishing, fly fishing or just dropping a line over the edge of your boat or the lakes shore, there is something for everyone. Local competitions and sought after fish make Jindabyne and the surrounding rivers a first-rate fishing area.  Rod and tackle hire is available however if you bring your own it’s FREE

Horse Riding:

Now your in The Man From Snowy River region why not take a leisurely horse back ride through some of the most breathtaking scenery and discover just why the Snowy Mountains is the perfect getaway destination.
If your up for something more adventurous, head out on a horse riding camp where you get to really feel what Banjo Paterson experienced camping out in the Snowy Mountains.

Water Skiing / WakeboardinTubing on Lake Jindabyneg:

The original Jindabyne township now lies beneath the waters of the lake. During the 1960’s it was flooded by Snowy Hydro to create a much larger lake and a new town area. Today you can water ski & wakeboard on over 386,282 megalitres of water which spans over 8km long and 2km wide.

Whether your just starting out on a set of water skis or you want to progress to the next level, our local guides and instructors offer the right options for everyone.

Sailing on Lake Jindabyne, Canoeing and other Water fun:

Keen to get out onto the water? Hire is available for motorised tinnies, paddleboats, canoes, sailing boats and half cabin boats. Or you could learn to sail or canoe on a variety of watercrafts with local instructors and all safety equipment included. Jindabyne Lake is a perfect area for those who love to try new water sports. Price list here

Mountain Biking around Jindabyne:

Do you have a taste for adventure? Mountain biking is an exhilarating sport and you don’t have to be an expert. Jindabyne township has a number of advanced course trails and there is the foreshore track for those looking for an easier pace around the lake.  Mountain biking in booming in Jindabyne and new trails are being created all the time – most are unmarked so be sure to get some local information and a map before you head off. Price list here

Jindabyne Golf Course:

Try your hand at a game in Thredbo, the highest golf course in Australia or play a full 18 holes at Coolamatong Golf course in between Berridale and Jindabyne.
There are a number of places to play golf in the Snowy Mountains including Lake Crackenback’s 9 hole course.

Tennis Court Hire:

Jindabyne has a few places with court hire so if you fancy a game of Tennis, Squash or Basketball you can hire out courts at very reasonable prices. Equipment hire is also available at some courts if you didn’t bring your own.

Climbing & Abseiling:

Fancy getting horizontal on the side of a cliff? then Abseiling is for you. Thredbo and Jindabyne Damn Wall offer fantastic views of the high country and what better way to see it by working your way down some of the massive granite boulders and terrain. Each step of the way you will have an experienced guide and instructor with you who show you the ropes and guarantee your safe and that you have a blast!

 

Jindabyne Sport & Recreation Centre:

A large number of activities and facilities on offer including: Rock Climbing Wall, Gym, Aerobic Classes, Netball / Basketball Court, Golf Course, Trampolining, Tennis Court, Cycling Track, Grassed Oval.

Gaden Trout Hatchery

Gaden Trout Hatchery located off Summit Rd on the way to Perisher has a fantastic BBQ area and is only a few dollars to go into the trout hatchery to see one of the main breeding and rearing cold water sport fish.  They offer tours daily and it’s a fantastic place to take the kids.  A nominal entry fee is required.

 

MORE FREE ACTIVITIES:

Walk or Ride along the Bike Track which snakes around the southern side of the lake taking in the beautiful scenery.

Jindabynehas recently built a state of the art Skate Park where local events and competitions are often held. The park is located next to the park on the lakes edge and includes a bowl, 2 rails, a box and a quarter pipe.

Strezlecki park
 located on the waters edge has free BBQ’s and play area for kids, there is also a large grass area ideal for games of cricket or bocce.

Take in the vantage point from Waste Point, which is located before the park gates to Perisher on the right hand side of the road.

Wild Brumby Distillery is located along the Alpine Way towards Thredbo, the establishment has Schnapps tasting, cafe, gift shop and gallery so you can take in some of the local art work in this eclectic establishment.

Bushwalk
 in some of the tracks which are located both before and after National Park gates. Free trail guides are available from the Snowy Mountains Regional Visitors Centre located in Jindabyne town centre
