Self Guided Walks & Hiking
Snowy Mountains bushwalking is unique and varied from high country walks to the forested sub-alpine terrain with its abundance of wildlife, wildflowers and alpine huts. We can offer you a range of satisfying walks that inspire, uplift and exhilarate you. The walking season opens late October (you may need snow shoes in the alpine area) and extends right through to the end of May just before the first winter snows. Walking in the Australian alpine area is truly addictive with its cool temperatures and lofty altitudes with stunning views.

If you choose to head out without a guide be sure and take a topographical map and compass and know how to use them. The weather in the alps can change quickly so always pack both cool and warm clothing, and take sunscreen, insect repellent and a broad rimmed hat.

MT KOSCIUSZKO DAY WALK – 13 kms return
Moderate walk to Mt Kosciuszko with a difference! Our guides take individuals, families and small groups on a scenic route to Mt Kosciuszko so you can appreciate the natural beauty of the mountains, their special environments and unique ecology. We will share with you a wealth of knowledge and experience in the mountains and personal attention on your special journey.

ALPINE LAKES WALK- 19 kms
This walk across the top of Australia visits the major glacial lakes with spectacular views along and across the Great Dividing Range. A full day with plenty of opportunities for mountain gazing, photographs and time to dip your toes in the Snowy River. Relax afterwards at Charlotte Pass with a cold drink of beer or a glass of champagne and some savory nibbles before returning to Thredbo in the courtesy vehicle.

SUNSET WALK – 13 kms return
This wonderful twilight walk starts in thredbo in the late afternoon known as the magic hour, take in the magical scenery as you make your way to Mt Kosciuszko. Here you can watch the spectacular colours of an alpine sunset with a nice cup of hot chocolate and some nibbles before returning to Thredbo under the gaze of the majestic stars above you.
- COST –$99per adult; $50 Walk add on per adult.

Self Guided Walks & Hiking
FULL MOON WALK – 13 kms return
A must do experience! Heading up the mountain in a 4×4 as the resort is closing down, you will travel to Mt Kosciuszko on foot under the night sky. Enjoy a hot chocolate and savory plate at Mt Kosciuszko summit before returning to Thredbo under the full moon.

LUNAR ECLIPSE WALK- 13 kms return
The full moon walk with a twist! This Heavenly phenomenon is where the moon passes through its penumbral phase changing colours, its often called the blood moon. You will get to see this event in all its glory as you make your way out to Mt Kosciuszko, with no light pollution to restrict your viewing experience.

DEAD HORSE GAP WALK – 10 kms
A beautiful aesthetic walk through the unique flora and fantastic scenery with granite tors poking through the ground. As most of the walk is downhill its a great option to get you started on walking in the snowy mountains.
